Building a Truly Great Incubator; A New Doctrine for Academic Institutions By Mukesh Gupta
Chapter 2: Why Tourism - Wellness–Entertainment–Hospitality (TWEH)
If Jaipur has to choose one sector to anchor its next wave of growth, it must be Tourism, Wellness, Entertainment, and Hospitality - TWEH.
Why TWEH? Because this is where Jaipur’s heart beats right now. Already, 65% of the jobs in TWEH are held by semi-skilled persons with positive gender bias - making it a natural choice for any Girls’ Academic Institution wanting to set up an Incubator Program to take the leadership.
Each visitor today generates about 3.5 workdays like a driver, a bell boy, a receptionist, a cook, a manager and so on. But tomorrow, with longer stays, wellness tourism, solo women travelers, Gen G Explorers, and the Growing Silver Economy, this can double to 7–8 workdays per visitor.
Do the math. If today we have around 30,000 businesses catering to 10 million visitors, tomorrow this can grow to 100,000 businesses as Jaipur pushes towards 100 million visitors. And majority of those will likely be new startups.
How good is this idea of choosing TWEH as the incubator’s focus? Very good - it is data-backed and demand-driven.
How unique is it? No other academic incubator in India has claimed this space yet.
How useful is it? Incredibly useful for students, for women, for industry, and for the city’s future.
