Pathways & Street Lighting (Solar/LED)

1. What is this item?

Farm street lighting refers to the network of outdoor lights installed along farm roads, pathways, and around key structures to ensure visibility, safety, and security during low-light hours. Using solar-powered LED fixtures combines energy efficiency with off-grid capability, making it ideal for remote or large-area farms.

2. How is the Quantity Estimated?

• Road/Path Length: Measure the total length of roads and pathways requiring illumination (e.g., 1 km).

• Recommended Spacing: Typically 30–50 meters between light poles for uniform coverage.

• Number of Fixtures = (Total length ÷ Spacing) + 10% extra for intersections or dark zones.

• Key Locations: Include additional lights near gates, equipment sheds, or high-traffic areas.

3. What are the Cost Components?

• Solar LED Luminaire: Fixture with integrated solar panel, LED lamp, battery, and controller

• Pole & Mounting: Tubular steel or galvanised pole (5–7 m height) with foundation

• Electrical Controls: Charge controller, dusk-to-dawn sensor, cabling between panel and battery

• Installation Labor: Excavation for pole foundation, mounting, alignment, and testing

• Maintenance Provisions: Periodic cleaning of panels, battery replacement, bulb/module servicing

4. What are the Going Rates & Per Unit Cost?

• Solar-LED Kit (40 W): ₹20,000–₹30,000 per unit (includes panel, battery, controller, LED lamp)

• Pole & Foundation: ₹5,000–₹10,000 per pole (depending on height and material)

• Installation: ₹1,500–₹3,000 per unit

• Total Solar-LED Setup: ₹26,500–₹43,000 per light

For grid-tied LED option:

• LED Fixture (40 W): ₹5,000–₹8,000

• Cabling & Conduit: ₹100–₹200 per meter

• Installation: ₹1,000–₹2,000

• Total Grid-LED Setup: ₹12,000–₹18,000 per light

Example: For a 1 km farm road with 30 m spacing:

• Number of Lights: (1,000 ÷ 30) + 10% ≈ 37 lights

• Solar-LED Total: 37 × ₹35,000 (avg) ≈ ₹12.95 lakh

• Grid-LED Total: 37 × ₹15,000 (avg) ≈ ₹5.55 lakh
